Awareness of Mental Health - Level 2 Certificate @ Green Labyrinth Training

Our Mental Health training is provided by our specialist, experienced and knowledgeable care training team. This course will be ran with 5 half day workshops over a 16 week period, workbooks and full tutor support.

Are you looking for mental health training? UK employers, particularly in the health and social care sector, are increasingly interested in their staff having a sound understanding of a range of mental health problems. This qualification aims to raise your awareness of mental health and a range of mental health problems. You will gain an understanding of prevalent mental health problems and how you can then work with or interact with individuals with them.

Unit 1: Understanding mental health

In this unit you will learn about what is meant by ‘mental health’ and its impact. You will also look at the legal frameworks which ensure high quality care is provided.

Unit 2: Understanding stress

In this unit you will gain an understanding of stress and its causes, as well as the effects stress can have on individuals and their daily like. You will also gain an understanding of ways in which stress can be managed.

Unit 3: Understanding anxiety

Within this unit you will gain an understanding of anxiety, the causes of anxiety and how it affects the individual and others.

Unit 4: Understanding phobias

In this unit you will look at the causes of phobias and learn about how those with phobias can manage them.

Unit 5: Understanding depression

This unit covers the causes and effects of depression on individuals and those around them. You will gain an in-depth knowledge of how depression can be managed.

Unit 6: Understanding post-natal depression

In this unit you will learn what is meant by the term ‘postnatal depression’. You will look into how postnatal depression not only affects women, but the effect it can have on others around them.

Unit 7: Understanding bipolar disorder

This unit will give learners an understanding of bipolar disorder, its causes and the effects it can have on individuals and their daily lives. You will also gain an understanding of ways in which bipolar disorder can be managed.

Unit 8: Understanding schizophrenia

Within this unit you will look at the causes of schizophrenia and the media’s representation of this condition.

Unit 9: Understanding dementia

Within this unit you will not only learn about what dementia is and how it affects an individual, but will gain an understanding of the ways in which dementia can be managed.

Unit 10: Understanding eating disorders

Unit 10 will give you in-depth knowledge of eating disorder, the causes of eating disorders and how they can affect the individual and others.

Unit 11: Understanding attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

Within this unit you will look at ADHD, the causes of this condition and the effect it can have on an individual and others.

Unit 12: Understanding Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

In this unit you will gain an understanding of OCD, its causes and how it might affect the individual and others. You will also learn about ways in which OCD can be managed.

Unit 13: Understanding Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

The final unit will give you knowledge of PTSD, its causes and how it can affect the individual. You will also gain an understanding of the ways in which PTSD can be managed.

Workshop Dates: This course consists of five workshop dates and each date is mandatory to attend

16th July 10am to 12pm

6th August 10am to 12pm

27th August 10am to 12pm

24th September 10am to 12pm

Fees: Free to unemployed and only £50 to employed learners. To find out more get in touch today.

Funded through 19+ Advanced Learner Loans – The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a reflexologist. This qualification is designed for learners aged 19 years or over and will support you to gain employment as a reflexologist, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.

This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a reflexologist including, mandatory units covering the following: knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice and business practice, anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies. You will also develop your understanding and practical skills to competently provide reflexology treatments.

Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, and client care. You will also develop a range of technical skills enabling you to use reflexology techniques for relaxation and to promote self-healing for your clients. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

What could this qualification lead to?
This qualification will confirm your competence for employment as a reflexologist. You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as a reflexologist. Career opportunities as a reflexologist exist in a variety of contexts, including: –
Working in commercial complementary therapy clinics
Working a commercial spa or salon
Working in the NHS in hospitals and care homes
Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings

Who supports this qualification?
This qualification is based on the complementary therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK’s leading professional association, the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) as being fit for purpose for preparing you for a career as a reflexologist. Holders of this qualification are eligible to become a professional member of BABTAC. Further information on BABTAC membership can be found on their website.

  • Provide reflexology for complementary therapies

Theory units covered:

  • Principles and practice of complementary therapies
  • Business practice for complementary therapies
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies

Duration: 7 days/14 evenings over 6 months
Pre-requisites: Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology, which can be obtained from us for £80.
