What is BBO?

The Building Better Opportunities (BBO) programme supports people across Swindon and Wiltshire who are facing significant challenges in being able to develop their skills, access education or move towards the world of work. Green Labyrinth Training support young people 16-24 who are NEET or at risk of being NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training). We are unable to work with learners who are still of school age.

The programme is a partnership of local organisations who are experts at supporting people and giving them the skills and confidence they need to move forward. We work with people on a one-to-one basis to help them address the challenges and barriers they are facing and develop a personalised plan to help them achieve their goals at a pace they are comfortable with.

The project has received up to £6.4M of funding from the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund as part of the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in England. The Department for Work and Pensions is the Managing Authority for the England European Social Fund programme. Established by the European Union, the European Social Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support skills development, employment and job creation, social inclusion and local community regenerations. For more information visit https://www.gov.uk/european-growth-funding. Over 65% of learners who started on our BBO programme transitioned successfully on to the full-time Study Programme.

Due to the personalised nature of the BBO programme, it is not categorised as full-time study. Consequently, Green Labyrinth is not considered the young person’s educational provider. Green Labyrinth keyworkers will liaise with other services involved in supporting a young person throughout their time with us. Attending external meetings will be subject to learner engagement and staff availability. It should also be noted that family benefits may be affected if a student is leaving full-time education and only signed up to the BBO programme.
