I would like to start this with a big congratulations to all our learners since our reopening on 9th March. Attendance has been higher than before lockdown and learners have got back into the routine of learning. It has been wonderful to see you back in the building, preparing for your exams and having fun in enrichment too!

Please read below for some updates from your Study Programme team:

NEW UPDATES:

What are you doing in September?

April is the time of year to start thinking about next steps. You will receive an email with a Returning Learner Application Form. If you are thinking of returning to Green Labyrinth, the deadline to apply is Friday 23rd April. Attendance, behaviour and engagement are considered as part of your application – another important reason to be on time, focus in lessons and follow the rules.

End of Term Reports

Usually, you receive a report at the end of every term. Due to lockdown, we will be publishing reports on Friday 28th May. This has been delayed so tutors can base their comments solely on your learning and progress in the classroom. This means attending all of your lessons is even more important!

Mentor Meetings

Due to staff shortages, mentor meetings will continue to take place for those who need them up until 31st March. We hope to resume all mentor meetings in the new term.

Will I be tested for Covid at college?

Testing will not be offered at college. Green Labyrinth hopes to offer all learners home test kits from the end of March. We remind you that testing is voluntary and strongly encouraged. If you test positive using a home test kit, you must book in for a test at a local testing centre immediately. Do not come to college. Please contact Green Labyrinth on 01793 236245 to let us know.

REMINDERS:

The following points have been published in prior communications. We have left them here for your information:

Do I still have exams?

GCSE exams are cancelled and grades will be calculated by tutors using classwork and mock exams. These are called TAGs – Tutor Assessed Grades. Your GCSE will be considered a full qualification.

Personal Development for Employability and Functional Skills are continuing to be assessed as normal. It is important that you attend all of your lessons and complete classwork to be ready for your Functional Skills exams and attain your qualifications.

What precautions is college taking in line with Covid guidance?

Green Labyrinth Training is following Government guidance. The safety of our learners and staff is the most important factor in providing our service.

With the advice from the government and W.H.O (World Health Organization) on the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing gives us the best chance at slowing down the spread of the virus. When you arrive at college:

  • you must wear a mask or wear your mask exemption lanyard
  • your temperature will be taken
  • you will be asked to anti-bac or wash your hands
  • you are expected to wear masks in common areas
  • you are reminded to keep 2m distance at all times

PPE will be provided if you need. We have also installed CCTV inside and outside the building to ensure everyone’s safety.

What if I am unwell?

It is important to follow government guidelines and stay inside your home. Do continue to attend online lessons if you are self-isolating. Please let us know you are unwell by contacting studyp@greenlabyrinth.uk or 07914669397.

It is very important that you follow self-isolation rules if you develop symptoms. Do not come to the college building if you have any of these symptoms:

  • a high temperature
  • a new continuous cough
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

Do not come to college if you or someone in your household tests positive for Covid-19. You must isolate for a minimum of 10 days.

Thank you for taking the time to read this so you have all the important information you need. A printed copy of this will also be available in learner pigeon holes.

As always, stay safe and do speak with a member of staff or email us on studyp@greenlabyrinth.uk if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

Rayanne Ordette
